When you order the DVD of Coming Out~Coming In, you'll also receive an eight-page STUDY GUIDE that aims to provide a safe launching point for dialogue. The GUIDE provides suggested guidelines for effective dialogue and relevant questions about each segment of the documentary. It will be helpful to have a facilitator review the intent, definitions, and guidelines, and to ensure that participants agree to these before beginning a dialogue about the program. You may also want to download a copy of the script from the video for reference. (See links below).

The STUDY GUIDE has been designed to be used by congregations, study groups, civic groups, Sunday School classes, families, seminarians, clergy and lay ministers, and the general public after they view the documentary.

Coming Out~Coming In was designed by four members of the William C. Friday Fellowship for Human Relations -- a program of the Wildacres Leadership Initiative. This leadership program seeks to identify and nurture committed individuals with the depth of feeling, breadth of knowledge, and network of relationships necessary to meet North Carolina’s social challenges. The Fellows program encourages participants to find ways to work collaboratively even across profound differences in identities, backgrounds, attitudes, and moral beliefs.

We believe dialogue is about inquiry and learning, sharing our perspectives and beliefs, and broadening our understanding of the different perspectives and beliefs among us. The purpose and result of dialogue is shared meaning, not influence to a certain outcome.
